To me, Pietersen seems really out of sorts, like he doesn't want to be there. A couple of shots he played to get out were pretty ordinary. Siddel put him under a lot of pressure, the Aussie bowlers have bowled as a unit, to a plan, with no real weak links. What a difference to the England ashes tour. If Broad can limp around, then he can bat with a runner. If he doesn't, he has a heart the size of a pea. Especially as this test is the Ashes decider, & even if the Aussies win this one, England need a morale boosting performance going into the last 2 tests. Gotta love the killer attitude of the Aussie side ATM. Bob

Have to post the article in the Courier Mail, Tue. Dec. 17 Malcolm Conn. Bob

in part- "........Now Clarke is the only World-class player in a team which has been patched up after two years of rebuilding came to nothing with series losses in India and England. Almost forgotten opener Chris Rogers, 36, is walking out to bat with David Warner, a loose cannon who made his name in the white ball game.

Watson is the number three after a decade of injury and underachievement. Steve Smith made his second career century in Perth to sew up no. five after three years in and out of the team. The oldest Australian batsman to debut for Australia in 34 years, George Bailey, has been a revelation with his big hitting , a trait he so regularly displayed in the one day arena.

Brad Haddin, 36, has recovered from being axed to play the best cricket of his career and the baling twine used to hold Ryan Harris , 34, together is clearly heavy duty. Spinner Nathan Lyon was dropped during each of Australia's past two series. And Mitchell Johnson is only playing because four frontline bowlers all suffered long term injuries.

That leaves Peter Siddle as the only other Australian as a regular. Now this Motley crew are about to stand with the giants of 2006-07. "

Oh to be a sporting scribe.

It has been a long time coming but more than worth the wait.
A mighty 'Motley Crew' no doubt!

Bet the same people writing off our cricket team wrote off the Wallabies in the Spring tour, as well. One bright hope for England, they have found a new star in Ben Stokes. They should get rid of their Africans, & pick a few more Englishmen, Bob

SWMBO and one son are watching the bash. I call it hit and giggle.

I have no interest in this form of cricket. I feel sorry for the bowlers.

I don't reckon they need bowlers for this type of cricket. They may as well just use a bowling machine.

Today I watched Adam Gilchrist second fastest test hundred in Perth a few years back, and if you ever want to see 1 person just demoralise a team, that is it. England were doomed for the rest of the series after that, they were standing with their heads in their hands.

Gilchrist on song was just AWESOME , warner is not far behind , but Gilly could destroy an attack , only Viv Richards could do that better in my years of watching cricket.

    I hope we beat the Poms 5 - 0.

    Cheers Ean
