    Recent remould tyre thread?

After searching this forum extensively, including the good oil, I noted that there hasn't been any updated retread / remould tyre threads since 2011. I thought I'd resurrect what is probably a polarising subject.
    Why?
I currently have two sets of wheels for my D2, both running non aggressive, bitumen biased AT's, one set 245's about 30% and the other 235's about 20%. I will have to buy tyres soon.
As the Disco is my daily drive and I do most of the km on the black, I couldn't justify a set of muddies, I wouldn't get the kilometerage. Soo... I was thinking of buying one set of quality non aggressive AT's or even HT's for every day use and one set of chunky muddy remoulds for that occaisional weekend.

The most recent thread I found (2011) kinda has the vote at 50/50. Anyone have any current or more recent experience? What about suppliers in Bris?

Remember, I haven't bought anything yet so am not sold either way. I used to run gnarly muddy retreads on a Suzuki Sierra I used to thrash in the 90's and they were great. Can't remember brand, but bought them from a country tyre shop in Bendigo dirt cheap.

Changing them over should be easy, I have two sons! Nah, they won't help, lucky I have a floor jack and air rattle gun!

Regret any heated discussion that may ensue.

    Cheers
    Ralph

I am keen to hear about prices and availability for some chunky 32's for weekending. Everyone tells me the perentie will only do 80km/h so they should be just fine. They always look surprised when I overtake them at 'only a little bit over the speed limit'.

I'm just about to buy a set of of MTs for mine and currently have a set of Maxxis HTs 235x70s that I just measured the tread left today which going on the unused one on the back, the other tyres only have 1 to 2mm wear from them. So almost brand new.

If you want, give me a pm as I am not sure what I was going to do with an extra set anyway.I'll be running the MTs all the time.

I'm also considering tyre options for 32"muddies, for not much more that retreads you can get new 265/75/16 muds for $169 each off ebay.
No current experience but 10 years ago i put some cheap and nasty 31/10.5's on my old rangie, $80 each but they lasted very well and i believe still holding up my old rangie in a paddock not far from here .

If those mongrels are like the ones of old ( same name different maker now days I believe ) they should hold up well. Never had them my self but knew of others that had a good run with them. I`m looking at tyres too soon. Will most likely look at a retread 235/85/16 for daily use and some thing like a Simex as a mud tyre.
