    Defender 130 and tall people

I was thinking of getting my hands on a 130. It was mentioned to me that a 130 would not be very accommodating given I am a taller bloke.

I was told that the front seat does not track back far enough. Is this issue limited to the 2 door single cab or does it also apply to the 4 door duel cab

I am 6'3", and without extending the seat rails it is a bit squashy.

My 130 is an 'Extra Cab' so there is enough room to push the seat back an extra 2 inches/50mm. In a single cab, there won't be enough room behind the seat to do this.

Edit: just to say it is easy to make extended sea rails if you can weld. I've put up a post on how I did it on my 110...

Depends on how tall. If you are around 6 ft then the standard configuration will be ok. Above that may still be ok, you need to get into a standard one and try. You can by seat runners that can make the seat go back further which will help. The only issue with this is it does impinge on the back seat passenger foot and leg room. Me being around 5' 9" I actually lifted the seat 25mm to give the rear passenger a little more leg room.
It will depend on what model you are buying or interested in. The new Pumas are a lot better for height and leg room. Older models may need some mods.

    Hey elevators

I am 6'7" with long legs for my height and find single cabs fine to drive. you can get seat rail extensions which allow the seat to go back far enough, but they also raise the seat (only available for doublecab/wagon). I find it fine without.

Mulgo on this site makes the extensions which we fitted to our 110.

You can definitely get used to it (depends on what you class as comfort, everyone has a different definition).

I drove an early 90's single cab land cruiser around africa for a month a few years ago and it was much more uncomfortable to drive. my knee was always hitting the dash and i had to shoehorn myself in a lot more than with the defender.

    cheers

187cm and a 36" inseam (do you like me mixing the measurement systems )

Lift the seat runners 20-22mm on some small standoffs and it tracks over the back of the seatbox fine to give ample legroom in a Crew Cab.
