Driver dead, passenger injured after car plunges off a cliff at Kerry

A man has been taken to hospital after being injured when he was thrown from a four-wheel drive that plunged 50 metres down a cliff south-west of Brisbane.

The man was a passenger in the vehicle that went off Duck Creek Road at Kerry, south of Beaudesert about 2:00am (AEST) today.

A motorist who stopped to open a gate near the crash site heard the injured passenger's cries for help.

The male driver died, while the passenger has been taken to the Princess Alexandra hospital with suspected spinal injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and the road is expected to remain closed until early this afternoon.
