We just had two weeks up around Crescent Head then Woolgoolga.
Hubby waved to literally everything(that he saw) with a green oval badge, from Defenders and Discos through to Sports and Freelanders.
He got a return wave about 5-10% of the time, and those were other Defenders plus a Disco or two.
The Defender's a tad hard to miss on the road. Maybe Land Rover drivers aren't losing the wave but are becoming more conscientious drivers and are concentrating only on the road in front? :angel:
I have noticed a lot more waving since I've come back to gold coast.....it always used to be a bush thing......maybe it's becoming a trendy urban thing.
Maybe they are waving at Grumble in sympathy.

Maybe it was just those drivers at that time.....you know , concentrating on getting to Birdsville in time to get a decent camping spot near the lagoon.
.......which btw is really starting to look very, very bare and overcamped.
None for me for a while in the big smoke.....and then two in one day at Boomerang Beach over Christmas. One an oldish white RRC with a wheel carrier on the back, and then again from a fairly well kitted out white D1 (I was driving a RRC).
Made me feel good again....:)
In the main I have given up waving to anyone here in Adelaide.
On a recent trip down to Goolwa, I waved to a few Defenders, and more than a few Discos(both 1 and 2) and no one waved back:mad: the wife couldnt understand why I bothered.
Dont bother in town anymore the majority of the time.
Every now and then I will, just to see what happens... but to be honest, these days I really cant be bothered taking the time!!

I'd say that 9 out of 10 Defender drivers wave or return a wave in my experience in Adelaide, except for a beater of a white 130 I see around Sheppards Hill Rd from time to time.Quote:

Little or no action (give or receive) with Discos. Had a D1 wave once, but it was a lifted/modded mud tyred machine (looked great) and not the usual Nan and Pop piloted D1s and 2s up this way.
Was waved at by the driver of a modded FJ40 today. Seen it around Blackwood. Owner must appreciate older 4WDs rather than just older Toyotas :cool:
I would have to apologise for my lack of waving. I spot other Land Rovers and by the time I've looked at the mods (if any), the plates (to see where its from) and the exact model (HSE SE etc) they have usually passed and I realize that I have not eyeballed the driver to return a wave.
Yet, just this week I did have a reciprocated wave with a D3 in Adelaide's suburbs. So the wave is not completely dead.
Mine is a white D4 :spudnikdaddyo:
I wave to all Landies. Just about to give up. Especially Defender drivers. We seem to be very model selective....which is a shame.

It's hard, crossing the vast suburban deserts, I need all the help I can get.
