Thread: Extended warranties.

We had a extended warranty with one of these mobs. They cover mostly parts that should never ever ever ever etc break. Things like and I kid you not gudgeon pins failing. We had a twelve months warranty from the dealer which covered the head failure and the demise of the front diff. In the time the warranty covered we had no claims. Also have heard getting a claim sorted is as much fun as poking the pointy end of a burnt stick in your eye. So when we brought our latest car and was offered a extended warranty for much the same as what your price is we declined. So get a copy of there warranty and see what they do cover.

They do a lot of business with the second hand car yards and have a number of policy types. My only advice is get a copy of the product disclosure statement and make your own assessment. They also require regular servicing by a licensed mechanic to endure the warranty remains valid. They are a commercial organisation, not an insurance coy like Allianz.

I got talked into one last year when I bought my discovery 2. So far I've had 2 small issues which are not covered in the policy as it was pretty specific on vehicle parts covered. That said if I had a major head gasket or transmission failure it would be covered for a lot of the repair cost.

Don't think I'd go for one again as I like to do a bit of my own routine work.

I am going trough the same process myself, From my research you will want to get the warranty underwritten by Allianz rather than National. You can get the warranty direct from Allianz for a lot less as it does not include road side assistance.
