Tyre size help
Hi all,
I have bought a 110 defender and is has a lot of modifications. At the moment it is running 33x12.5R15 Mickey Thompson MTZ. As much as I love the big tyres and mtz's, I feel they are to big for a daily driver and for a car that will do some highway miles. They are on a -25 offset rim and they foul on the radius arms on full lock. Just replaced both wheel bearings in the front end along with a lot of other hidden damages that the previous owner just plain lied about that surely are not helped by big rubber.
However my issue is I want to keep the 33 height and go to a narrower tyre. In a 15inch rim I can't do that.
Are my only 2 options 285/75/16 and 255/85/16? The latter only made by BFG and Maxxis from what I can see do any others make a 255/85?
Any advice would be appreciated, I don't know if the 255's would look strange with the 50mm lift and big flares (currently covering the 12.5 inch wide tyres)

In a all terrain pattern it is only B F G and Maxi. Simex have a tyre as well. Note though with Simex you should look at a size smaller than you need as they measure there tyre sizes different.

Yeah toyo used to make one as well, but no longer. My other concern after looking for the 255 size is that lack of availability in outback aus would be a concern. I was hoping I could just get a narrower 33 inch tyre on the 15 inch rims I already have but no such size seems to exist

Hi Thrower,
BFG do a 33 X 10.5R15, and they used to do 33 X 9.5R15 as well but I have not seen one for a long time.
