I'm not convinced. The original work for this data was done in the 60's and subsequent revalidation in the 70's only used 114 accidents!

This one is Aussie, recent and has a much larger sample and guess what - no correlation / relationship was found.

google 85th percentile.
many studies by different motoring/government groups.

most uni's have done these studies.

there i much more data than that. most not australian. and the solomon curve is only half the equation

they are set about 20km/h lower.

ACCIDENT INVOLVEMENT - Those who reported having been involved in a crash (and multiple crashes) over the past 5 years were more likely to be travelling above the mean speed of the traffic and the speed limit (there were insufficient numbers to statistically test crash involvement with excessively fast and slow travel speeds). Contrary to earlier overseas findings, there was no indication of any increased crash involvement for those travelling below the mean traffic speed in these data. There were relatively small numbers of accidents reported overall in these studies.

Can only speak for Qld., any one foolish enough to do 130 KPH constantly on our roads has a death wish. There is no point bringing in fancy equations & European data, & European attitudes, try driving that speed on the Warrego Hwy. . If any Gov. was silly enough to bring that in, without upgrading the Highways to Autobahn standards, all it would do , would make a heap of Lawyers richer , and a lot of young drivers dead. Bob

So, what you are telling me is, don't believe the evidence someone put up to support their argument? Do you have any evidence to support this?
