LiFePO4 battery in a box...
They're sold under a few brands for about $120.00
I was talking to a mechanic today. he showed me one of these;

He didn't get it from the above link, I just found that example on the web.
What amazed me was the weight of the thing. It's about the size of a slightly long cigarette packet, but it's so light, and he said he'd started a 6 cyl Volvo that wouldn't even light up it's dashboard!!, and then he restarted it another 3 times. I don't think it would start a diesel, but would be a great backup power source for phone, laptop etc

The bloke that works for me bought one, cost $120 as Tombie said. I don't think he has had to use it yet. He just wants the peace of mind on car club runs (1963 Daimler 250 V8 and MG.
Think I read somewhere that they can also be used as a defibrillator in an emergency situation.

Wonder if they'd start a V8.....![]()
I've been looking at these for a while, not so much as a jump starter but as a pocket USB charger. Jump starting is certainly justification for purchase and a great bonus. I can get the Monster (MOP-12) unit in Australia, and sell for about $165 inc delivery ... If EBay item ex Hong Kong at $100 inc postage, probably just as useful, and save $65 too! I have asked one of the suppliers for a 'bulk' price, so see what I get offered.
