    New Toy at work

We got a new toy at work today, something we have been chasing for years, they wont buy us one
We have a subdivision to do in town so we needed one so we hired one.
Most of us had a play today, and never operated one,we all got it sorted within 5 minutes in the chair.
If I win lotto Im buying one and a 6 wheeler truck,a licensce to print money.
    AWESOME BIT OF GEAR.
    The toy.

They're not a bad bit of gear Andrew. I've had a play with one on a minesite - much better in soft or uneven ground than the wheeled version. A mate of mine has a few of these (and trucks / dozers etc). Like you said - a licence to print money.

Actually, I thought you might have been in Canberra today .............

Might be different down your way Andy, but my Bro had a Cat skidsteer and a 6 wheel tipper truck (Isuzu Giga) and a pig trailer. He tried to make money but after 3 years sold up the truck and went back to work for wages. He still has the Cat, as he did his own house pad, but is probably close to done with it too.

I hired a JD tracked skid steer to move a heap of sand around at our new house. I agree, a great bit of gear and can certainly move some dirt.

Main trouble I had was after many years on an old Bobcat with H pattern sticks and pedals, I found the joystick only controls took much longer than expected to get used to. Kept curling the bucket forward when I wanted to go forward!

We have a few tracked skid steers on the MRWA contracts. The lads have mentioned that they have difficulty doing final trimming with the tracked machines as the tracks leave gouges when turning. The wheeled machines leave a much neater job. The tracked machines have awesome floatation over the soft stuff though....

    Have fun.

I use one all the time at work! Great machines!

The key to leaving a light footprint with tracks is to avoid tight manouvres, steady on the stick and back blading on the way out.
