"Help clean up the tracks day"?

I was just reading my news feed on Facebook (yuck yea I know much rather AULRO!) but saw that "Land rover owner international" (the magazine) posted this:

    Land Rover Owner
Who'd be up for a spot of greenlane clearance?

I've been chatting to friends in GLASS ( GREEN LANE ASSOCIATION ) and the subject of overgrown/undriveable lanes came up.

There used to be a day or two each year set aside for National Green Lane Day (NGLD), where Land Rover owners owners helped clear and maintain lanes, but that fell by the wayside for a number of reasons.

So, if it was reintroduced as a national event, with work being done all round the country, would you be up for helping?

I know some clubs already do clearance in their own areas - anyone got anything coming up they want to promote?

    Neil
Made me think WOW what a good idea! And it'd be a good chance to get out and do some 4x4ing AND clean/fix up OUR national parks a bit. Plus it's a good opportunity to hang out with LR people (in my experience mostly more reliable than facebook people )

Does this happen in Australia? Where does it happen? When does it happen? Have you been involved? Should I look into getting involved?

Most of the larger 4wd clubs have had a clean up day of one sort or another in areas local or of concern to them.
It will usually be a rubbish clean up day or similar as the public liability will not allow for anything else.
Road repairs etc are therefore out/not done.
Even a rubbish clean up should be done under clean up Aust day outing insurance in case someone gets hurt.
Local councils will usually support where possible.

Ron, good thought. Pity that stupid regulations and rules get in the way of everything these days.

It never used to be that way, but we as a society are now much more prone to sueing 'someone', that the various regulations were created - we've only got ourselves to blame.

Well feel free to count me out of that demographic. If I hurt myself doing something stupid then I'm not going to sue the first person I can think of; I'm going to get back up and say "well that was stupid, don't do it again". Seems that noone else is happy to do this though
