Aren't trucks actually limited to 108? I know our Mack is.. maybe its a 1990's thing and it's only 100 now? (still has SPEED LIMITED to 100) signs on it.

in the case of my Iveco the speed limiter is set according to the tyres it is supplied with, With XZL the speed limiter is factory set to 100kmh, with XZY road tyres it factory set to 120k, By arraingment with Iveco I had mine fitted with 125Q ( 160kph rated ) and the speed limiter was not set at all.
Once set, the speed limiter can not officially be disabled .
I know a friends western star is capable of 130..... was re-engined with an ex US government engine & ECU..... we figure the limiter is set to 80mph....
probably one of the more suprising events was driving home early one morning and getting passed by a bread truck, not a little one either.....
wouldnt have been so bad but he caught me, passed me and took off into the distance at a fair rate of knots..... and I wasnt exactly doing the speed limit either!
There was a recent news item involving a Ford Transit van spotted driving erratically in country NSW in the early hours - was found to be 3.5 tonnes overloaded with bread and meat. So a minor matter of speeding fresh deliveries would not surprise me.
More on topic, this thread reminds me of an experience I had in 1963. I was driving south on the Bruce Hwy between Townsville and Rockhampton (at that stage one lane bitumen with a number of single lane bridges. I was in my Series 1, travelling about 50mph, when I was passed as if standing still, and nearly sucked off the road, by a thirty foot caravan towed by a Silver Cloud.

The Trouble is that the 100kph speed limit these days is the new 90kph and every one wants to drive at 110 kph or more, so a person driving the legal max is now the one that inconveniences those drivers
This is not a new video but summarise well some of the problems with the old fellows in the road.
Outback road safety campaign
The unfortunate death of two grey nomads (from Maitland) in NW Victoria today. The grey nomads in a motorhome pulled out in front of a semi-trailer against a stop sign at a quite open intersection. The truck driver could see what was developing in front of him and pulled over the centre of the road in an attempt to miss them but the camper hit the trailer of the truck and ripped the front off the camper.
Very sad and highlights how you need to be on your toes all the time.

TWO grey nomads have been charged with drug offences after police found 7.25kg of cannabis hidden in their caravan.
The Fleurieu Peninsula couple were stopped by police on the Mallee Highway at Lameroo about 9.30am where their caravan was searched.
Police will allege the undercarriage of the caravan had been modified to include a purpose-built compartment containing 16 packages, each with one pound (0.45kg) of cannabis inside.
The couple, a 64-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman, were allegedly trying to traffic the cannabis interstate.
The caravan and the drugs have been seized and the couple have been charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of cannabis.
