Yes initially sold as Crab Sticks but consumer affairs quickly jumped on sellers as they were not crab and name changed to Seafood Sticks - still see them sold occassionally in takeaway shops as Crap Sticks but is now illegal. Same applied to "seafood extender" pieces.

Recipes vary a little but it all tastes pretty much the same ( add the usual dose of tomato sauce on the sanga and definitely tastes the same )

Might go make me self a polony sanga now if the kids haven’t scoffed it all down [emoji12][emoji481]

At the deli section a while ago in woollies and got some chicken necks to feed the dog a treat, a coloured lady from South Africa asked if they were any good
I told her they go great in stews and they’re cheap

Woolies had been sold out for a few weeks afterwards

I wonder if it was just a coincidence or she has been feeding her tribe up on them

I had a mate who worked at the Chapmans abattoir.
Dropped in for a look around.
Kill floor and freezers didn’t bother me in the slightest.
The big vat of purple/pink/grey slop churning away caught my attention. “What’s that?”, I asked. “Raw fritz”, was the response.

Suffice to say - I haven’t eaten a single piece since.

I was brought up on our home reared and slaughtered beef. Haven't eaten anything that didn't come from the ground or sea for 2.5 years now. This thread does nothing to stir any desire for anything with hoofs or claws [emoji1787][emoji1787]

I don't know what necks cost at Woolies, but drumsticks in kg lots are stupidly cheap.

More bounce per ounce with them methinks.

Grew up on it ... sandwiches with sauce, fried for brekky (I can smell it now!), after school snack etc. I only visit SA these days, but I sense the quality of Fritz has slipped in recent decades.

Astonished at the price of tripe ( yuk) the other day, it's expensive, the hipsters mush have driven the price up!

And now hipster eateries are servicing Bone marrow on expensive toast. I remember Pal dog food used to advertise marrow bone jelly in it , were they onto something way back then
