The Disco 3 v8 is a stroked Jag V8 to give a bit more torque, the diesel is a V6 multi cam engine as used in the Jag S type sedan, it uses a variable nozzle turbo but unlike the jag only has one turbo, this engine is quite a trick bit of gear and has more torque than the 4.4 V8, it was designed jointly by Jag and Pugeot. My mate in the UK has test driven the jag diesel S type and he reckons unless some one tells you it's an oiler you don't know. The V6 petrol however is I'm sorry to say a modified Exploder engine and not the Jag V6 clearly a cost cutting measure.
Rangies will soon loose the BMW engines and get the jag units as well including the supercharged one.
