Yes definitely keep us posted, please !

A few photos of the installation (ie a step by step) and your impressions / results and you would have a KILLER article for a newsletter

Tell me more about this overdrive, then..... what's the story with it ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I might write it up as a wider soundproofing article for a 4WD mag. At the very least it'll go on my website.

I'm told the kit will now be with me before next weekend.

Overdrive; basically another gear you can engage on 3, 4, and 5th by means of a button on the gearlever. It's a planetary gear, like an auto.

So you're up to 80 in 5th (2100rpm in a TD5). In a normal Defender you'd just accelerate and run the engine at crazy revs to get up to 100 or 110.

With the overdrive, you hit the button, the car changes gear, revs, noise, fuel consumption and engine stress drop. So you have 8 forward gears in high range.,

Good stuff, don't you think?

$3000, I'm told. Brown Davis is the Sydney distrib.

Perhaps I didn't explain myself.
I know what an overdrive is I just didn;t know there were any Defender ones out there !

How does it 'change gears' at the push of a button ?

Do the gear ratios overlap or is new O/D 3rd higher than current O/D 5th ? (if you follow me)

$3K is a lot of money to me, is that installed or just the kit ?

The ratio is 28% higher. So OD3 wouldn't be higher than normal 5th, it'd be between normal 3 and 4.

I think $3k was installed. I have other things to spend $ on at the moment, so haven't looked in detail.

How does it change gear at the push of a button? Exactly the same way automatics do, by the magic of planetary gears.

how did this soundproofing story end up?

hi all
i am interested to hear how the soundproofing went with the noisekiller kit form the uk as i am thinking of buying the kit also.
has it made a reasonable difference?
was it hard to fit & did you opt for the adhesive backed matts?
