I have to say I enjoyed it being a Ford fan. I was there the first year Dickie raced the green XE. He put it into the trees at forest elbow doing the top ten shootout (was called Hardies Heroes back then)

It was rebuilt over night but as usual, when a car is so badly damaged and repaired in such a rush, it never lasts the race.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

It wasn't rebuilt overnight. The bloke from Palmer Tube Mills bought another Falcon from another competitor and they put their engine and good bits in and painted it up as a replacement. It was too far gone for repair and went to scrap.
