Noise in 5th gear in 200tdi Disco

    Hi everybody,
Today i took her to the mountains to get some organic vegies cheap (yes im a tight ass who cares about my health), and as i was driving back i noticed some teeth on teeth noises similar to loud wind on the roof rack coming from below. I tried different things and found:
    1. Noise only happens when you back off the accelerator (and noticed it coming down a long 110km/hr hill as i stopped using 5th after)
    2. No noise while im accelerating
    3. No noise in any other gear with accelerating or decelerating
Im thinking bearings on 5th gear but weird as you would think there would be more load accelerating. Also later on flat road tried to replicate at 70km/hr and did not notice noise in 5th (i know i know dont use 5th under 80 which i normally dont but this was a quick check as brain was going grrrrrr)
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

gearbox starving 5th of oil maybe?
i had a lada niva before and the fix for 5th issues was simply to overfill the oil.....is this the case for land rovers or are there other tricks?

My 110 made similar noises decelerating, metal grinding, sounded like it was in my transfer case, turned out to be a rear uni joint. Even though i had greased them and tested them (by hand). I could not pin point the noise un till it had loosened right up.

That seems to be a common problem in the LT77 and early R380 box.
