    Plane Crash

A water bombing fixed wing aircraft has crashed west of Ulladulla. The aircraft is a modified turbo prop crop duster.

Apparently early reports indicate a wing fell off which is a typical incident for fixed wing fire fighters. Aircraft close to all up weight doing a dive, drop and climb type approach gets hit by a wind gust and the crucial time when the aircraft is at max Gs and is overstressed.

I guess we just have to wait and see what happened as the story unfolds.

I certainly hope the pilot is OK but this is a serious incident.

Let's wait for some official word before speculating. Some 'news' reports are saying an AT802, others a Dromader.....

I've got too many mates in the game.....

Needless to say I've got everything crossed for a good outcome

Not so much speculating unless news reports are (which they can do) - TV showed the aircraft and it is an AT802 but looking at the aircraft I can see why there may be some confusion - eyewitnesses saw a wing fall off.

Just advising what has been reported from fire headquarters at Homebush.

RFS is supposedly saying a Dromader; but that is being reported through the SMH, and they wouldn't know their head from their ass...

I'm probably being a bit sensitive mate; just got a vested interest after 13+ years with RFS Aviation.

    Which channel had the footage?

Was the ABC but to an untrained person both aircraft look similar so could be either.

Pilot was a 43yo family man from Triangle in Central NSW.

    These incidents are never good.
