A chap on my floor is the fire captain for Winmalee RFS. Feedback i heard today is 100 houses lost in the district.
I have no appreciation of losing everything you work your arse off for in such a tragic event.
I endorse Yorkie's sentiment. The smallest of items donated can be the start of a new life for these poor people. Instead of having a spring clean have a spring donation.

From experience Salvos and the like prefer cash in these instances and not keen to take goods.
Thanks mate, just got back online...9 houses gone on my little dead end street including the neighbours. I was on my own, the firies were just stretched to the limit and didn't even know our street had gone up it was so quick. I have singed hair, smoke inhalation and it feels like my eyes are burnt but the house is still there. No family could get through the road blocks to help...not that I would want them in the situation. I'm knackered beyond belief.Quote:

Mike, We and I am sure all our AULRO community will be so very thankful your home survived. So many others were not so fortunate, sadly.
Watching the footage on television throughout the day was unbelievable.
