Talking Question about maximum wading depths

When maximum wading depths are calculated for a vehicle - do they include the depth of ice on top of the water or not?

It's a Defender !!!! Wouldn't imagine that there'd be a huge difference between getting out to attach recovery gear, or staying inside.

I noticed the correct procedure, at least in OZ, was not followed. No one got out and waded the stream to check the depth or strength of current. Funny that can`t think why not.
