On a SIIB there is not as much flex in the chassis so likely not a problem.

On the 1000lt liquid pallets, there are some that are inside a sheet metal box, rather than the metal lattice frame. Quite rare, but what the sun can't get to the UV can't degrade. I believe they are used for light sensitive liquids.

They're on a wooden flat-bed, it's just the old farm truck, follows the header round, and we use it as a fire unit when back burning.

For real fires, there is a tank on the back of the Cruiser ute (600 odd litres), it works as a spot fire, fast response unit. (lol, fast...)

I guess it depends what sort of country you're in. If you're in relatively flat terrain sitting on the back of an old truck should be fine, however if you're in the costal ranges with lots of hills, creek crossings and rocky steps then you need to convert your old Army truck's tray to have a tripod mount or gimble the tank.

There seem to be lots of these IBC tanks for $50 on ebay but they are all in Vic or Nsw. Not much up our way.
There is a local chemical outlet has them for $130 so I will get a couple to try.
The 2B is kept under cover with a solar panel on the batteries so it may as well have a couple of tanks on it just in case.
My ready response Landy 6x6 has a 1000 litre tank on it as well and a solar panel but one cant have too many water tanks especially now everything is dry as a chip.

Friends have one of those water cubes mounted on a trailer along with a genie and pump. They use it for moving water from the Dam for watering and fire response. They have had it for years.

I have been told (but never tried it) that the DSE slip on's are also un-baffled with the same result, and the fix is to coil as much 100mm flexy aggi drain in the tank as you can, and wolla baffled tank.

I have one of the cube tanks mounted on a Discovery chassis that I converted to a trailer, it's a few years old and doesn't seem too brittle. I'd be reluctant to put one on the back of a ute as the C.O.G. is very high. $100 is a pretty good price from what I've seen, and yes you can get a fitting to adapt to the outlet from rural supplies / irrigation places as they have become a popular water transport setup.

There is a hydroponic bloke near enoggera that has IBC's at a good rate.

Found some at Yatala, south of Brizzie near the Gold Coast I believe. About an 8 hour round trip but I can get 10 for $50 each.
Why do I need 10?
Decided to put them under the house too, in a bank. Fit up a roof mounted sprinkler system with a diesel pump.
I can fit 5 on the bed of the trailer then 5 more on top.
Bloody dry here so decided to get serious about fire safety.
