    Poem for Parents......worth the read.

My son came home from school today, with a smirk upon his face
He decided he was smart enough, to put me in my place.
"Guess what I learnt in Civics 2, that's taught by Mr Wright?"
It's all about the laws today, the Childrens Bill of Rights"

It says I need not clean my room, don't have to cut my hair,
No one can tell me what to think, or say, or what to wear.
I have freedom from religion and regardless what you say,
I don't have to bow my head and I sure don't have to pray.

I can wear earrings if I want and pierce my tongue and nose,
I can read and watch just what I like, get tattoos head to toes.
and if you ever spank me, I'll charge you with a crime,
I'll back up all the charges with the marks on my behind.

Don't you ever touch me, my body's only for my use,
Not for your hugs and kisses, that's just more child abuse.
Don't preach about your morals like your parents did to you,
That's nothing more than mind control, and that's illegal too.

Mum,dad, I have these childrens rights, so you can't influence me,
Or I'll call Children's Services Division, better known as C.S.D

    PARENT'S REPLY AND THOUGHTS

Of course our first instincts were to toss him out the door,
But the chance to teach him a lesson made us think a little more.
We mulled it over carefully, we couldn't let this go,
A smile crept upon my face, he's messing with a pro.

Next day we took him shopping, at the local goodwill store,
We said, "pick out all you want, there's pants and shirts galore.
We've called and checked with CSD, who said they didn't care,
If we bought you K Mart shoes instead on Nike Airs.

I've cancelled that appointment to take your drivers test,
The CSD is unconcerned so we'll decide whats best.
There's no time to stop and eat, or pickup stuff to much,
and tomorrow you can learn to make your own 'effen lunch.

Just save your raging appetite and wait till dinner time,
We're having liver and onions , an old favourite of mine.
He asked "Can I rent a movie? To watch on my VCR?"
I said,"Sorry but we sold your TV, and put new tyres on our car"

"We've also rented out your room, you can have the couch instead,
The CSD requires just a roof over your head"

Your clothing won't be trendy now, we'll choose what you eat,
The allowance that you used to get , will buy us something neat.
We're selling off your jetski, dirt bike and roller blades,
Check out the Parents Bill of Rights...it's in effect today.

Hey, hotshot, are you crying? why are you on your knees?
Are you asking God to help you out instead of CSD?

    Cheers, Mate.
    That's a good one.

It is just asking for trouble to teach someone their 'Inalienable Rights' without balancing that with their Responsibilities as part of Our society.

We have loooong chats when this thing comes home from school.

Ultimate freedom has an ultimate price, usually a lonely death.
    Cheers, BDave.

I rmember this "childrens Bill of Rights" coming into effect in the early 90's when I was in yr 11, the teacher came in and told us what our parents could and couldnt do.

I went home and told my parents... My parents told me if I didnt like the way they were bringing myself and my sister up, I could happily leave at any time, and survive on my own.

I never did leave (until I got a job and my own house that is.)

Now I bring my 5yr old boy up with the same morals and attitude as what my parents bought me up with.... didnt hurt me, wont hurt him.

Who said discipline is a bad thing..... if its that bad I should be constantly on a physc's leather couch getting my head read!!!!

In regard to smacks etc (slightly off topic).... I deserved every one I received when I was a kid.... except 1 or 2 that my sister blamed things happening on me.... but thats ok I got my own back

    Cheers

    Matt
