home made ladder roller for boat any ideas

    Hi Guys,
I have inflatable about 45kg, i want to make it easer to put up on the roof rack.

i was thinking of a big ladder roller, i have a small one. Any ideas on how to make one the width of my roof rack and if you have any easy ways you load your boat up.

We are off to Moreton next month.

    cheers

are you loading it right side up?

as for getting it up there,
stake the lead rope to a solid object and reverse?

As for getting it up - use synthetic winch rope, then just flick the hook over the roof and winch it up.
Bit of carpet on the windscreen ridge if you care for it?

As for a boat roller - Length of Aluminium 50mm OD "scaffold tubing" which is the width of your roof rack. Press fit bearing into the ID of tube. Turn up a spigot which is a light press into the bearing and attach this to a mounting plate, Slide a length of shrink tube over the tube and shrink it to size.

Now attach the spigot plates to the rear most aspect of your rack but set 5-10mm below the top height of the rear bar.

Boat leans against roller and rolls smoothly up, Once boat is level there should be next to no weight on the roller or else you will blow the bearings/ spigots out.
