How much different are the new maps to Les's old map?
Is it possible that they produce a new map, with the "old information" on it?
Guys,
I've been looking everywhere for the older Hema Cape York Bush Tucker Man Map as I plan on going to the tip within a year or so. It is currently out of print and for the life of me don't know why Hema won't do a reprint. I've browsed through it in the past in shops with the intention to buy closer to the time (shoulda bought it then) but based on this I can't help but feel I've missed the bus...
I've even had my money refunded where I've bought it online - all vendors say they can't get it anymore and Hema won't supply any more. Now I am a bit of a Les Hiddens fan and quite like his work and was quite interested in the sites on this particular map....
Can anyone help me to source one or want to sell their old one? (Market price - about 12 or so bucks so any opportunists out there; I'm not paying much more) If anyone can be so kind as to help us get hold of one I'd be much obliged...
Cheers

There's one up on the wall at Moreton Telegraph Station, why take a copy up when there's one already there?
A took a good look at it while I was there, it's basically the HEMA map with a few notes like "good fishing here" or "WW2 bomber crash site" etc. scrawled on. No extra tracks or anything. If you have a decent camera, just take a picture of it and use in conjunction with a standard HEMA map.
I wouldn't mind one of these either.
It could be handy for parts if I'm ever up that way in a P38 Range Rover:

Try Bush Tucker Man , a hard man to get hold of, but you may be able to message him, & get hold of a copy off him, Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
Chris, if you come across this map, can I ask you to grab or copy a version for me please. I will start searching too now I know it exists.
I have been waxing and waning on the Cape for a couple years now. I loose interest when I discover Parks have closed a few good things to do up there. Private land is being closed or difficult to access too. And the shear volume of visitors is surprising, though it does seem the main track as well.
But now I have a boat, in parts Parks can get stuffed. I can now go see what has a accesses road too, that parks most likely use, is not NP but managed by NP's, and belongs to us all.
This map may be nothing more than a reflection of what was once possible. But it's always nice to see what that was.

Hello All,
It is not much help because the site says that the map is out of print. However, they do supply a front page picture and product codes to assist people to narrow the search a bit.
Cape York Bush Tucker Man Map
Kind Regards

Yes, the map did have some interesting pointers in terms of attention to detail - a balloon pointing here where there's an old wreck or another point of interest there.
Yeah - would be nice to get the whole map; sounds like I'm not the only one after it. I'm not amused that Hema would pull the pin on it. If anyone has one and willing to part with it - kindly email us...

Failing that - perhaps that photo of the one mentioned on the wall might suffice (or a good PDF attachment of it....)
Thanks anyway guys
Cheers

Hey Bob,
I'd agree he'd be a hard man to get hold off but if you do get his attention, let him know a fellow Landy driver is after that Cape York Map. May be worth an oil painting I did of the ol' dude...
Cheers
Chris
