Camper trailer battery charging, which isolator?

    Hi All

I purchased myself a Jayco Swan Outback last week (2006 model). Just wanted some thoughts on charging the battery in the camper from the vehicle.

I have looked at a rotronics MH10. It states that it will not allow charge to pass through until it senses the alternator pushing out 13.2v.

Does this mean that for vehicle startup that both batteries are isolated from each other because this is what I want. I do not want to run the risk of the main battery failing and the starter motor trying to pull max current from the battery in the camper.

Any advice on the rotronics mh10 or suggestions welcome.

    Cheers

    Dave

I would suggest that you get onto "Drivesafe" who advertises on here as "Traxide Tronics" as he has several types of split charge systems for Landrovers.

X4. I have Tim's kit in our Amarok and it charges the second battery in it, plus 2 batteries in the camper. Works a treat

I don't have a caravan, but I do have one of his kits in my P38, and have looked at the caravan/camper trailer kits he does. He is also very open to custom ideas (as was done in my case).

10/10 for service, quality and support.

    Cheers
