Got any specs on the unit? What sort of current draw at 12 volts?
I lashed put at the 4wd show in Perth yesterday and bought a "trans cool evaporative 12 volt cooler" it's a ripper set it up on my bar this arvo and I'm not moving . I bought it for the wife so she can lay down in the roof top tent in the afternoons and cool down but with the 240 adapter I'm going to use it at home as well. What a great idea and Aussie made as well. I wonder if it will work in my old series 1.

That could prove handy. If you've got an awning tent/sides, you could also run it in there. A bigger space, but probably a little more versatile.
Old idea updated. Mate of mine - from the days when we both had hair... he had a evaporative 'air cooler' for his car. It sat on top and straddled the transmission hump. Worked well. Using crushed ice and thawing water it even worked on the odd humid day.
Transcool will draw around 2 Amp max. The above was higher, but then again it was biggger too !

Then there are these... IF you have a good supply of ice, or blue freezer packes.... 'Only' $39.95, though shipping from the US would add $40 to $60
