No wonder our kids are lazy

I was walking to the bus today 800m or so and notice a mum and her daughter heading (school drop off I assume)......I'm a bout 200m from the bus stop and when a turn the last corner here is mum dropping of daughter I estimate 200m max. Ok maybe 300m....than mum does a u turn and heads back towards the house

I'm guessing mum could have continued on in the other direction but I doubt it

See this sort of thing all the time. Interesting discussion on ABC Breakfast this morning about a study where they found the average child (I assume teen) has been found to be 90 seconds slower running a mile than their parents were at a similar age.

Dont know how or where they got their figures from, but it doesn't surprise me, although I was slow over the mile when I was a kid too.

my mum never walked me to school.
stood at the front gate, gave me a kiss and told me how proud she was of me and waved goodbye.

IS IT THE KIDS WHO ARE LAZY OR IS IT MUM & DAD, I CAN UNDERSTAND PARENTS WANTING TO MAKE SURE THE KIDS GET TO THE BUS STOP , BUT IS IT A CASE OF MUM BEING TO LAZY TO WALK AND NOT ALLOWING THE DAUGHTER TO WALK ON HER OWN..... HENCE THE ROAD TRIP.

This is just a example of what has become the norm,we see and read it in the media regularly,no child is safe at any time of the day or night,as everybody else are perverted child molesters, both male and female,it is drummed into them at school, home in the media, and in Qld by Hetty Johnson, BUT in the same instance health authorities are yelling about childhood obesity and poor health, yes, I see it every day,and I used to drive school buses, parents driving their children to the bus stop, often less than 100yards,and then waiting for them in the afternoon,so the child gets next to no exercise unless in structured sport,as in most public schools now there is a no running rule as to cover any WHS problems and to negate teachers and the Department.

I am involved with an after school homework club for local primary school children whose parent/carer is in the workforce, the kids tell us of those rules and regulations, and the older ones complain at being restricted except going to sports.
