I am involved with an after school homework club for local primary school children whose parent/carer is in the workforce, the kids tell us of those rules and regulations, and the older ones complain at being restricted except going to sports.

My point exactly...why are the parents driving 100 yards to drop them off then drive back to pick them up. When i was little it was mum's excuse to walk the dog, and our job to make it run home in the arvo.

I'm glad I'm the age I am & won't have to put up with these little arseholes (not their fault) in 30 years time when they may be in control, or probably Islamic the way our gutless leaders & academia carry on.

I think there is a problem in taring all with the same brush. Where we live, kids walk to school, with an adult, why do you think there are lollypop women, at the pedestrian crossings. When I go for a walk, usually around 3 pm, I have to walk on the grass, to dodge the children riding their bikes home. Yes, we as parents are more conscious of the dangers, but society where I live, we keep a good eye out, on all children in our area. There is no excuse for unfit children. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

And when you were a child, I can guarantee the same was said about you. Bob

You are right there Bob, and it is how you see it. I choose to see it like you most days. Just an ageing gentleman going for a pleasant stroll at a nice time of the day.
But these days now largely due to the media, we have to be happy with your not a nice gentleman going for a pleasant stroll near a school. You are a threat to children because your male. You are probably watched by many, possibly even filmed, and given you go for a walk at three O'clock daily raises concerns with some in society. That is why Johnny's mum drives him the 400m school.

On top of this Johnny is generally lazy from being spoilt, unorganised because he has been cotton wooled, fat from wrong foods, and cant concentrate on anything more than reactive actions from playing game boy.
Now where s the cricket bat, who gets it first.

It was 320 steps.....although that was after a day at the cricket.....

mum could not have been worried about stranger as there was three blokes siting for the bus.....at a guess the girl was 15yo

My three kids have to make there own way to school, two can choose walking or bike...no three has to lump his heavy school bag as well as a cricket bag 500/600m to a bus stop

How long before the bus came, perhaps mum thought the daughter may miss it. Also a bit hard to robbed or rapped with a few non associated random doods waiting around for a bus.

But be careful though, three blokes at a buss stop in Qld could be colluding. And if that girl has her ear phones in have a good time and getting a bit noisy, the No Fun at Parties or gathering rule may apply. Cannon Ball Newman will be watching.

Actually a 3 o'clock walk gets me to the bowls club around 4 o'clock, where I catch up with other old farts, to re-hydrate. What a paranoid, sad world we live in. And, I don't subscribe to the ' all kids are fat & lazy' school. You don't see many of that type around here, hundreds , if not thousands play an after school sport of some kind. Thinking hard, I can count on one hand obese children I've seen around here. And I'll be damned if I'm going to change my lifestyle for some paranoid twit , to hell with them. If some one wants to question me on my walk, when they pick themselves up, I'll explain that to them, Bob

WTF has being a Muslim got to do with anything? That's such a stupid statement.

    Anyway, back on topic:

It's more the adults that are fat lazy buggers where I work. I'm the only one in my small country town to ride my bike to work out of a staff of 100. Most people live in the town but still drive everywhere. The kids all walk or ride to school but all of the adults drive. I live 4 blocks away and beat 3 of my neighbours to work everyday who drive. Gets my goat that does!
