The funny thing was we didn't do the axle off road 8O The brakes were playing up so the old man pulled them down and cleaned them up. We took her for a test drive, he hit the brakes hard dropped her into third and gave it a boot full. BANG! We drove the short distance home on the front axle

my mum and dad bought one of these new,,,

I'm sure it had the 225 slant 6 motor., green?

Dad drove from Heathcote to Sydney in it for 15 years. For the last 5years Dad tested concrete samples,, no problems to bring home 200 kgs of blue metal in the boot,,, every other week,,, should of seen the concrete plant pots WE had,,, :wink:

As far as i can remember,,, no gearbox problems,, no new motors, these things were faily bullet proof.

Its an interesting story,, I might ask Dad about the old Val over Christmas,,,,, I TOO did a lot of miles in that car,,,
