They fluoridate the Yass town water, pity you can't drink it...........
SWMBO and I both grew up on farms and were given fluoride tablets. Neither of us have ever had a cavity, unlike our kids who we couldn't get the tablets for as they are apparently now out of vogue.

When they built the Hume Highway bypass around Yass, they drew water for the concrete from a bore instead of directly from the river.

I was told by the the farmer on whose land the bore was sunk that the reason was because tests showed that the Yass River water, which was the town's water supply was not fit for making concrete.

I don't know about the benefits or harm it does but I am old enough to remember when Melbournes water had fluoride added. It certainly tasted different and I stopped enjoying a glass of water as it was not so sweet any more.

I grew up with tank water.. And was given fluoridated tablets. My teeth are fine.. But my friends of the same age that didn't get them? Not so much.

I'm a fan of fluoride in water.

OK this is a little story on the differences between bottled water and tap water, in my capacity as the storeman where I work, I'm in control of the bottled water machine(Neverfail) the order for new bottles was delayed for some reason or another that I cannot remember, so when we ran out I decided I would fill a couple of the empty bottles with tap water, as far as I know the water in Sydney is fluoridated, after a few days of everyone using this, knowone said anything, nothing, in fact I mentioned to one bloke why don't you just use the water from the cooler(cold unfiltered tap water) in the lunch room, he said it taste funny and I don't like tap water

    Love it.

The other funny thing is that the guidelines for tap (potable) water are much higher than for bottled water.

E.g. Arsenic and other heavy metals can be at least 10x higher in bottled water...
