Question Buying OS & Postage costs, worth it?

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-ch...f-america.html
AULRO have put this Sticky up, my question to the frequent OS Mail-Order Buyers out there is this sort of service only a advantage when spending Large amounts e.g. say AU$2000.00

We will have to pay on top of service/postage fees is the Duty5% & GST 10%

or does it work out to be a Great Service for Low Dollar Valued Sales too

I'm trying to buy some brake seals from the US. Most places with these brake seals tell me they only ship within the US.
The service Inc posted is jest what the doctor ordered.
I've emailed these parts suppliers advising I have a US shipping address. Just waiting for their reply to that.

    OS Buying and Shipping.

I don't buy car items but other things are really cheap. My guitar strings cost $22 a set in Australia, I get them shipped to South Hobart from USA for $9.50 a set! Men's jeans Levi 501 $ 125 in Aust., $79 from USA inc. freight.
Books from Better World Books are freight free to Australia.
Got a good mail story. I bought a guitar from the States and it was slightly too big for US Mail dimensions so Fedex freight was going to be $295 to Tasmania. I got the seller to unscrew the guitar neck and send as two parcels via US Mail. $90 combined for both to Hobart!!
    Cheers, Peter.

I buy some bits locally, but pretty much everything for the L322 comes from OS. It is easy to source, and always heaps cheaper than the same part in Aus. Even big heavy bits - like brake disks and entire front strut and air bag assemblies are still half the price delivered. On heavier stuff, allow about the same price for shipping as the parts cost.

They generally get to my doorstep in 4 to 6 days, but I did get a set of brake pads in 3 days once - from the UK.. I have had people quote me longer lead times to get parts down from Sydney...
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

There are cheaper shipping costs than the IPS ones, US Mail is probably the cheapest, but if you read what they are about it is for places in the US that don't ship outside of the US. so you would need to determine if you want to use them or not, here are their charges to Australia

    OUR DISCOUNTED SHIPPING RATES TO
    AUSTRALIA
    WeightEconomy Express
    3-5 Business Days Priority Express
    2-3 Business Days 1 Lbs (0.45 kg) $52.13$43.795 Lbs (2.27 kg) $73.58$71.8710 Lbs (4.53 kg) $106.09$107.0015 Lbs (6.80 kg) $142.01$139.2725 Lbs (11.33 kg) $191.52$191.6650 Lbs (22.65 kg) $301.60$320.8875 Lbs (33.98 kg) $353.08$447.75100 Lbs (45.30 kg) $383.13$543.72125 Lbs (56.63 kg) $478.91$689.91150 Lbs (67.95 kg) $574.70$827.93
so in Tote's case he might as well buy the jeans in Australia as the postage is the same as the product, US Mail would be much cheaper, my guess is the place he buys the jeans from ship to Aus at better rates than this.
But if the item you're after is only available in the US and the supplier does not ship to Australia then this is the mob to use.

if your buying stuff that available world wide, try Elektronik, Autos, Mode, Sammlerstücke, Gutscheine und mehr Online-Shopping | eBay ... It cost me 60euro to ship a single mass conversion flywheel/clutch kit. Nearly 1/2 the amount of postage from the UK.

    seeya,
