Ridiculous. How does a government justify turning over data about its own citizens. They're doing this in whose name?

Personally controlled Health Records- great idea badly implemented. At $200,000 for every record on the system then consider besides a Billion Dollars of taxes wasted our Governments not so secure Information security policies![]()

Maybe when it is not a real government, protective of it's own citizens... but rather a business entity.
Or simply a government with too many morally bankrupt people in high places...
Came across this website, which may be of some interest, and may go towards illuminating some 'governmental' behaviours...

Welcome to the Forum Applecrumble, - what's you particular strain of the "Land Rover" disease?
Revelations like these, which expose how our governments spy on us and lie to us, show why we should be grateful to whistleblowers like Edward Snowden and Julian Assange, I reckon.
The system was designed (typically badly) by the Labour Government to enable a patient to go from one doctor to another and for the second to know the person's medical history.
Also if the person was say in an accident and presented at casualty unconcious , the hospital could refer to the computerised record.
Doctors typically regard client records as theirs not the patients as I found when I shifted and had to ask politely several times to get my records, and that IMHO is the main reason that the system has failed to get traction.
So I would blame the doctors, the same as it is their decision that we cannot be charged a net amount after medicare rebate.
It always amazes me how they get away with thumbing their noses at the government when taxes pay for the far greate rpart of their education , and their salaries are guaranteed by the government by the government subsidizing doctors visits.

However after fully reading the text of the attachment I still have no objection to DSD sharing it as the context of this cooperation is AFAIK the fight against terrorism. Terrorists know how to exploit every loophole in information tech and if authorities can match phone numbers or addresses from metadata I say good on em.
As anormal citizen I feel I have nothing to fear from this activity.

While I certainly do agree that government releasing information on us should not be permitted, the reality is that that the marketers, phishers and all the other civvy tracking systems probably have more information us and us being traded on a daily basis without our knowledge or agreement.

Of course, that depends in which it is considered terrorism by the government in place.
IMO it is a very important point.
Control freaks also exploit loopholes or leaving laws with to many loose ends.
A good example are the new anti bike laws in Qld.
Unworkable for the "justice system" but very convenient for the government.
