Absolutely. On the basis that "it's mine and I'll do what the hell I like with it", today it's Boris, tomorrow it's Barbie if I want.
i changed the name and sex on my swb... and it has pretty much run a treat since....

Just to add fuel to the fire! Can you have 2 names for it?
And what's the grandpa's axe reference?
the grandpas axe reference is
"my grandpa still has the first axe he ever bought, its gone through 3 heads and 8 handles but its still his first axe"
we have a guy who as part of a project rebuild has replaced every part of the car but the plates and the section of the chassis with the number on it. hes thinking about renaming it but is hesitant to because "its my first car"
for me yes, you can rename a car but only if you have (and its an any or all)
changed the colouring if the colour is reflected in the name (fozzy is called fozzy because an paint matching program called it fozzy bear brown big red was called big red because she was red.)
Significantly altered the appearance/function and that is reflected in the name.
Bought the car with a name already given to the vehicle and you have one that has more significance to you (this IMHO is a sin for military vehicles with a history attached to the name OR other vehicles of historic significance like the anti-christ)

thought that might have been the reference dave... wasn't sure.
I agree with your argument! Colour or function is ok. Random name changes would just confuse ppl. I didnt' think that PO's names even counted as a name.... I thought that when you bought it all names were erased creating a blank canvas for naming.
