Wiring loom for 2.4 Puma needed

Having loads of problems with Monty our SVX Defender at the moment, but the strangest has been the turbo dying as a result of - wait for it..... a broken wire on the back of the wiring loom plug that controls the turbo.

Apparently LR have superseded this part due to similar problems over the last few years.

The wiring is very lightweight and wasn't straight forward to diagnose as the loom is taped up at the end of the plug and the wire had actually broken of inside the plastic sheath so it wasn't immediately obvious that this was the problem.

Here's the problem: You can only buy a replacement as a complete loom which is $500 for a second hand loom or $600 from the UK.

I'd be just as happy to buy a replacement plug (which we had to cut apart to get the car back on the road temporarily) and then splice in the existing loom but am having trouble tracking one down.

Am wondering if it is the same plug as used on the ford transit turbo diesel that shares the same motor as the Puma.

If anyone knows it is the clever people on AULRO.

Cheers in advance for any light that can be shed on this interesting dilemma.

The other option I thought may be cheaper is to have one 3D printed.

I would suggest you contact British Off Road in Qld, as they may have a engine bay (front section) of a wiring off a smashed vehicle,or you could contact All 4X4's or similar name in Newcastle for same.

    cheers

If you can get the brand of plug that LR uses you might be able to source the plug and pin/socket pack from RS Componets or a auto electric connector specalist , then you can extract the rest of the pins, recrimp the broken one etc, all the although you might also have to buy crimpers for the pins as well. It's unlikely that the plug was a one off for LR

If you can post a pic of the connector, someone might be able to help with an original brand name.

If there is enough slack you may be able to replace both sides of the plug/socket with a new connector like a Deutsch Connector or a Quick Connector.

A quick google of "automotive electrical connectors australia" give you a list of companies doing various connectors.

    Cheers Glen.
