Bob, I've asked my sister (custodian of family history) on which ships and where my Dad served.
I recall some of his stories.
During the Korean conflict, his ship was at anchor off the troubled peninsular. He and two other Able Seamen were bearing long arms (303s?) in company with an Officer carrying a sidearm, were shorebound in a small motor vessel. A shark approached their craft and the OIC gave permission or ordered the men to shoot it. All four men emptied their weapons, result............RN-0 v Shark-1.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
