Thread: Fireworks

I'm over the whole fireworks bit.
A few bangers and little rockets once per year is one thing, but the big NYE (and seemingly everything else) pyrotechnics is too much.
A complete waste of money, resources, environmental damage, 'disturbance of the peace' and impact on animals for really no good reason.

'We can put on the biggest show' they say, until someone blows more stuff up in the next city.

The problem I see here is that these are all illegal fire works. If they made them legal like Darwin and set some rules and regulations about their use, maybe we would not have so many problems.

Being illegal people are going to set them off in places where being caught is slim, which there fore often means places that might start fires.

Then make the penalties very harsh for illegal use. As I stated in an earlier post, my mate who until recently lived in Darwin had them every year without issue.

I do have to agree here. The money that is spent on these things is huge.

Governments don't have enough money for important thing like more police or hospital beds, to name a few, but seem to be able to fund things like this.

So if fireworks are so evil, why do our governments waste so much money on NYE displays. Maybe the politicians are evil. Oops, I just linked back to Guy Fawkes.

It's not the fireworks that are evil, it's the irresponsible cretins that get hold of them that are.
Sadly, should a cretin burn down someones house, memories and Landrovers, the laws favour those irresponsible people and not the victim.
If a victim, I would want my pound of flesh.
