John if it's any consolation , I lost my mum this time 3 years ago to the same illness.
Alzheimers/dementia creates so many problems most people don't understand. I felt more saddened at the periods before death and believe the inevitable death relieved all the suffering from both sides. Peace.

My condolances to you & your family.
John, what a bugger of a time for this to happen. Even though you know it's going to happen at some point, it still takes you hard when it does happen. While you and your family are hurting, perhaps the chance to come together over Christmas will give you all a chance to talk about the good times. I found the kids to be a great help in my case, they really force you to look outwards - my sincerest condolences to you hand your family.
Cheers,
Sean
