Sadly the road toll this Christmas will reflect what happens every year.
People RUSHING to get to destinations, tiredness, lack of respect for the road and conditions. A lot of the people that do the things that irritate us will scrape by as there number wasn't drawn this time, they a playing Russian Roulette on the roads.
The others are in La La Land they can only think about themselves. The pull out into flowing traffic oblivious to others the had to brake so not to rear end them, and then they dawdle along at low KPH holding up everyone behind them, finally reality comes back and the finally start moving.
The stuff we see happens every day, but most are at work. Get a higher concentration of morons at Christmas as the all are off work and on the roads.

Government planners really need to invest more on roads.
The current system is not working.
We need 4 lane streets and roads and marked accordingly.
Lane one for those Dawdlers/ day dreamers,
Lane 2 for drivers that drive to the speed limit,
Lane 3 for those that want to drive faster than the speed limit by 10kph, and
Lane 4 for the suicidists. doff doffs, lowered commodores and falcons with near bald tyres and wearers of baseball caps in reverse
That way all traffic flows and every one is catered for as in the present situation if doesn't cater for everyone
Crikes, nearly forgot we need alane 5, we need that for the Ambulances and emergency services to access and pick up the pieces.

If governments were really interested in road safety rather than revenue raising they would direct the cops to blitz unsafe driving practices in a way which included a first offence friendly warning rather than just a straight up big fine.
For example, there should be a LOT more emphasis on Keep Left Unless Overtaking on motorways. That would keep the slow vehicles away from the faster ones and would let the faster drivers move on through without being held up and getting frustrated and trying to overtake in dangerous situations.
There should also be enforcement of a fine for driving dangerously slow on motorways. By that I mean that someone doing 40 km/h or so under the limit for whatever reason is obviously unsafe to mix with fast-moving traffic.
Anyone who pulls onto a fast-moving motorway in a way which causes other vehicles to brake suddenly is also driving dangerously in my opinion.
There should also be a lot of education about how to keep a safe braking distance from the vehicle in front, since so many crashes are rear-enders because people are too close. On long trips one of the ways I combat fatigue is to keep well back from the car in front, because I know when I'm tired my reactions are slower, so it makes sense to leave more reaction time for braking.
In a lot of cases I reckon people are not being reckless but simply don't realise their driving is dangerous. That's because our driving education system is badly planned and doesn't put enough priority on safe driving and competent vehicle conrol, in my opinion. So, people should get a warning to educate them about the right way to drive and then the cops should follow them for a while to see if they improve. I reckon that approach would get more co-operation from motorists than simply slamming them with a fine and making them surly and resentful.
