In extras on that dvd I think they show them being prepared
I have a ninety minute dvd that covers the last ten years of the Trophy
featuring the mighty Discovery's.
Go team.
The Disco 1 is the best alround LR that they built I think.
Anyway, question:
Besides accesseries like winches and snorkels, what other mods were allowed ?
They were bouncing around due to speed and weight etc. but were they stock or modified ?
Cheers.
PS: I made a Camel T shirt for Sunday best goin to town.
In extras on that dvd I think they show them being prepared
If you search Camel Trophy in Wikipedia it gives a detailed list of the extensive mods to the vehicles.
The basic cars remained stock, the modifications were mainly around safety and would vary slightly year to year. The basics are:
- Full roll cage.
- Roof rack.
- Raised air intake.
- Winch
- Underbody protection.
- HD Suspension.

Agree Mark
Saw Andy Marshallsay stuck in a grass field with his camel Disco on a Shires day . While every one else in standard trucks drove around him. We had to tow him out all due to disco being far too over loaded and heavy.
Most people who bought them after the events treated with kid gloves ( well apart from Guy Shepard , who treats his worse than the camel contestants did, hey Mark ).
So a lot of them have not done a lot of hardcore off roading. Far more have done a lot of over landing. But all the camel trucks in my mind were best built for over landing rather than hardcore off roading
