Have you ever considered maybe it's you and not the vehicle?
I have a mate that breaks everything he drives but is adamant it's never his fault.
Just asking?
So **you** got the good one!
Give it timethey are breakable.
Interestingly, are you using it for exactly the same use?
I find many people change and by default work with the limitations imposed by the new vehicle - often not driving the same places, same way, same loads...
Cheers

Haha maybe! In all seriousness I think the "unbreakable" marketing ploy for the Hilux is bullsh*t (coming from 10 years in the creative/marketing industry)...any vehicle can have issues. My opinion of "reliable" is based on driving with mechanical sympathy - using a vehicle for its intended purpose but not driving it like it's stolen. I will push my vehicles, but not thrash them!
Yes, almost exactly the same use as my Defender - within the limitations of 235/85r16 BFG MT KM2's, stock IFS suspension on the Hilux verses 255/85r16 BFG MT KM2's, 2in suspension lift with dislocation cones etc., locker, rock sliders and winch bar on the Defender. Honestly I've been surprised at some of the tracks I've been able to get through with it!
From new in June 2013 we've done a 6,000km desert trip fully loaded, Fraser Island with 4 people and full supplies, multiple trips to Cooloola and Deepwater National Parks, numerous high speed dirt backroads, local tracks in my backyard (Noosa Hinterland) and we've got a Cape and Gulf trip planned mid 2014.
I miss driving my Defender and can't wait till it's back on the road after its full rebuild. There's something about driving a Land Rover that nothing else comes even close to...but I have to say the Hilux has found a place in my heart. My wife and I are very happy with it. That said I'd get rid of it tomorrow if Land Rover actually deliver on the replacement Defender!
