do air condition fans push out or pull air in on disco 1?

hi guys and gals, still having some issues with my aircondition on my disco 1 200tdi and wanted to know if anybody knows if the thermo fans on the front push air into the condesor (aircondition radiator) or pull it out of the grill to the front of the car????
now the reason ive asked is that something funny going on with the fan control circuit (though clutch on compressor working fine) and i rigged up a seperate switch and relay to control fans at the front and assumed the blue wire was positive and black wire was negative but now the fans push the air out the front though would have thought they suck in air and push it on the condensor. Could it be possible the blue wire is negative and black wire positive? could anybody tell me please?
    cheers
    chris

Air goes in through the grille, through the A/C condensor and the radiator and exits into the engine bay.

On my 300TDI Disco 1 the A/c works like so,there is R134a in the system which is circulated by the compressor, through the vehicle to a radiator/coil behind the dash (cold air)it passes through the radiator/coil system then out to the Condensor in front of the engines coolant radiator where the hot gas/R134a is cooled by the air passing the grille, the cooled R134a then goes to the compressor and the cycle starts over again in that cycle it passes through the Dryer/Reciever which removes any moisture.

    cheers

Sorry Uncle Ho but if I may clarify a few points........Lets start at the Compressor, cool refrigerant VAPOUR is drawn in from the EVAP at a LOW pressure and compressed to a HIGH pressure then discharged to the condenser, 2 things to note at this point, the REFRIGERANT is compressed to a HIGH pressure and heat is added by way of compression. At the CONDENSER the REFRIGERANT is "condensed" to a LIQUID at HIGH pressure or if you like "HEAT IS REJECTED".

The REFRIGERANT then circulates through the Reciever/Drier to the expansion device at the Evap still at a HIGH PRESSURE LIQUID when the REFRIGERANT is passed through the expansion device 2 things happen with the REFRIGERANT, 1 is it expands and the pressure lowers as the flow of refrigerant is at controlled rate, 2 As the REFRIGERANT expands it absorbs HEAT from the air being passed over the Evap coil under the dash or if you like the air being passed over the evap BOILS the REFRIGERANT, the REFRIGERANT is now at a LOW pressure due to the metering device/TX valve/Capillary etc.

So now we have a LOW pressure REFRIGERANT leaving the EVAP under the dash and being drawn to the SUCTION side of the compressor to start the cycle again, there is much more to it of course but hope that clears up a few things.

AS to the OP question the air passes through the grill.... Condenser...radiator.... as it would do when travelling in a forward motion

Yes, black can be positive - I think this was done for a giggle in the LR factory to see who they could trip up...

Uncle Ho has his compressor running backwards.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Nothing surprises me anymore with colour coding, during the eighties I was working for a company on the Gold Coast, we were tasked with pre-delivery work on the Chris-Craft brand of boats coming in from the USA one of my jobs was to fit the 240 volt Ice Maker, unscrewed the kick panel to access the wiring tails and there they were, a black wire and a white wire clearly marked " HOT" and "COLD", fair enough I thought, touch the active when energised and yes, it would be hot to say the least.
