    Porche 911 vs Defender 110

Porsche 911 vs Land Rover Defender crash - Photo #6

some photos on the above link of a head on between a Porche and a Defender in Italy.

Not good for either car, but the 110 does contribute toward occupant survivability.

I know Porches look similar front or rear BUT, it looks a lot like the 110was the one doing the low flying to me and a-ended the porker.
The other photos show a boxer torn out and flung in a paddock, not common in head-ons.
    Interesting photos though, thanks.
    Cheers, BDave.

The accident took place in Italy and was caused by the Porsche 911 (997 Cabriolet), which, not surprisingly, spun out in the rain. The sports car hit a Land Rover Defender coming the other way.

Like we said, both vehicles ended up in weird postures prior to the crash. As if the 911’s engine was sorry for playing its pendulum trick on the car, it left the vehicle. As for the Defender, this was left on two wheels... and a door.

Four persons were injured in the accident, but fortunately the effects were reportedly minor.

Here's a quote from the news story, it was the Porsche's fault, it's not unusual for a car to be damaged at both ends after it spins out of control.

    Porche 911 vs Defender 110

The passenger area of the Porche looks in tact and very survivable though I havent read the article.

Trying to work out how it happened and looks to me like the Porche lost control and turned in front of the Deefa.

If thats the case the Deefa done well as its hit the most solid part of the Porshe being the engine and gearbox with the force of impact still sending
the engine a fair distance into the field while remaining relatively in tact.

If I was the Porche owner I'd be counting my blessings ....if it happened a few seconds earlier it would have been a very diffrent outcome

Speed kills, or is it the sudden stop ?
Lucky the LR doesn't do either of these well.

ok, starting to picture the events now.
Looks like the porker was perpendicular to the LR at point of impact with the engine areas lining up. ouch!
