    Perth fires

    Not good for sections of the Perth hills, possibly 20 homes damaged, 12 confirmed destroyed, and one person died as a result of the fire..we hit 41 deg, here and a total fire ban, thankfully no calls came in...and cooler tomorrow ..Gary

    Sounds like there is alot more homes lost than those "official" numbers.
    Was 45 here at 2pm and it got hotter.

    As of 8.30pm the house toll is 27, the good news is the fire is more or less under control, for now...

    DFES now reporting 27 homes lost, yep Andy wasn't nice, not so much the heat but how humid it is...we had a MVA call out Thursday but apart from the fire north of us all quiet. The one north will burn all summer so far 14,400 ha lost with a 65 km perimeter.its fires like that I'm glad I'm fire and rescue and not bushfire, they're doing an unreal job though ..Gary

    Hills fire

    Our 2.4, light tanker and ICV (Kalamunda BFS) were called to help out.
    I wasn't part of the crew as I'm off shift.
    Looks like it may have started by fallen power lines though that's not confirmed.
    Loosing a home is a hell of a way to start 2014.

    There now are 50 confirmed houses lost,may still rise.
    Privately owned power pole looks to be the cause.
