We have them in the hills. Fire trucks never travel very fast due to the weight of equipment and if loaded with water it makes speed pretty hard.
Maybe the traffic is speedinglike every day driving faster than the posted limit

No disrespect to our CFA Volunteers, but I really had to have a chuckle to myself whilst stopped at the traffic lights today.
Heard siren, looked in mirrors ... nothing
looked up and down road ... nothing
waiting
..... waiting
siren getting closer
then a CFA Defender speeds past . like I say no disrespect but it was funny seeing the slowed traffic going faster than the Land Rover !!!

Our brigade had an Acco as our 22 Rescue appliance.
More than once, if I was in a 110 zone, I would shut the bells & whistles off.
Kinda pointless when it had a top speed of just over 90 km/h
But, she got us there, every time until her retirement...![]()
If its like our pumpers they still carry a reserve of water (up to 1000L) or in the case of our Urban Rural Pumper (URP) it carries 3,000L..
But if enroute to a job through traffic, our mob at least, speeding or not theyre obligated to run lights and sirens...
(also a lot of defender response drivers dont 'drive it like its stolen' which gets best results)
