I love visiting the place. Going back up there in March.

It still retains some of that country town feel, but with most of the amenities of the big cities.

The red dust is a thing of the past. Sure, you can still see it in places, but it is pretty well gone.

As has been said, it is the gateway to the outback. If you like travelling, well, you have a 4 hour headstart to some of the best tracks & best scenery there is.

Like any place, it is what you make of it.

Oh, and there is a great restaurant on the foreshore...

I worked there for three months a while back. Loved it.

Plenty to see and do in and around town, and plenty of places to go on weekends etc - I never had the time to see all that was available.

Oh ........ and I love a good feed of fresh Oysters.
    Cheers .........

How are you going on this?

    Lionel,

    Hello from Brisbane.

How are your thoughts on this challenge progressing?

For me personally there would be two elements to this question, only one of which has really been canvassed here. What is Whyalla like. Not surprising, the people who like Whyalla have responded to affirm their liking of the place. I have been there and I will neither praise nor condemn it - it is OK and there is a lot of prospective discoveries for the newcomer.

The second, but more critical element (again from my perspective) is what has the job there got to offer you and your partner etc? Both now and into the future. Where to from Whyalla or is it a terminal destination? This is the real part of the package for you to tease out.

It's a long way from Bundaberg.....

    Cheers,
