    Whats good in singapore..

Lets just say that I had the chance to have you lot pay for me to go and spend 2 weeks in singapore to watch a bunch of winged grey things drill holes in the sky.

What else is worth doing in singapore?

Zoo is pretty awesome, though it's been a decade since I was there.

I went a couple of years ago but was guided by some Kiwi Expats that I was visiting .... so really didn't get to check out the whole place myself.

Raffles Hotel .... Long Bar (?) a must. The hotel has been preserved since the Colonial Times ... or at least represents that. Get in the spirit of it and enjoy.

Singapore can be freakin expensive but just look around. Some Malls will have a tea shop that will charge $50 for a cuppa, right next door to a Steamed Dumpling place that you can eat like a lord at and spend very little. Seriously, find one of these places. I have never liked steamed dumpling before and I ate cane boxes full of the things at one of these places .... plus the best Szechuan Chicken I have ever tasted (bloody hot though).

Public transport is cheap .... and fully automated ..... bit of a shock when you realise nobody is driving .... LOL!!!

Very light traffic .... as Rego fees are off the planet.

On cars .... more performance cars per square CM than 1000 Top Gear shows .... seriously! Lambos, Ferraris, Bentleys.....everywhere. 95% or something like that of the population live in public housing ... the other 5% are filthy rich and like to show it off.

Oh.... and look for the Police while you are over there .....unless there is an 'event' on .... you just don't see them .... anywhere. Apparently that changes if something goes down!

    Enjoy.

I agree, the zoo is good. Also loved the satay stick stalls on the street if they're still there.

Watch out for drink prices. When we were there in 2000 & at the hotel we were at it cost me $80 for 2 10 oz beers & 2 wines (glasses)
Some extra stuff on the bill included:
Entertainment Tax...The telly behind the bar was on.
    Service Tax.....The barkeep served me.
I discovered that the noodle shop over the road had bottled beer, size about halfway between a stubbie & tallie, for $2 something from memory!
The gondola ride was pretty good & try the soft shelled curried crab at the café near the laser fountain (if it's still there)
    Have a good time

Singapore, been there three times and I love it. The atmosphere, the climate. Food is awesome, Clarke quay in particular, China town is great. Go where the locals go and you will save. Sentosa island is good. Fort Siloso is interesting and the public transport is outstanding. Very clean and very little crime. If your into electronic gizmos go to Sim Lim tower!
Singapore is a model country we could learn a lot from.
    Regards
    Robbo
