What is with the Landrover hatred?

Well a slight rant as I have had enough of all the landy hatred In the process of tryign to get my warped manifold machined, ive copped a lot of "land rovers suck, its because its a landrover, worst cars ever, so expensive, waste of money, blah blah blah" where is the hatred coming from and why?

Every landy i know of has been fine, even one that never gets any maintenance other than if something breaks. It survives well and tows almost every day of its life. in the many years said friend has owned it, its only needed a diff, and a drive shaft replaced. that is it. and mine, it is in dam good shape for 300000ks old. the little things ive had to replace are worn parts any vehicle needs replaced. heck a lot wont make it to that many kms! Ive had far more troubles with all the other 4wds ive owned. and ive had a lot. and i also do not find it expensive to maintain either, parts infact, are rather well priced (unless from rip off rude people here) i am a disabled female and manage to maintain mine mostly on my own.

they really are fantastic vehicles and so sadly tainted by simply untrue negative attention. there are lemons among every car manufacturer. infact i heard that 75% of landies are still on the road today. not sure how true that is, but isnt that a sign that these people need to jsut stop with the in your face opinions? fair enough if they dont like them but why is it we cop it the most from the haters? there are a lot of things in life i dont like, but dont see us goign and saying how horrible and bad such thigns are. everyone likes different stuff. and thats fine.

normally i dont let it bother me so much, but ive had a really bad day today, missing my landy and my disabilities and pain have flared up bad in not being able to use the trusty white beast and the haters have been worse the last few days especially when half of them have never had anything to do with them ever.

does anybody else seem to cop a lot of hatred for their choice of vehicle? i dont understand where they get off voicing their opinions so loudly. its just rude and impolite.

Politely smile and nod. We don't want those people knowing the truth.

Having a thick skin is a pre-requisite to owning a Land Rover, have copped it for 18 years as a Rangie owner but I would still not own anything else even though they give me the ****s at times (part and parcel of owning 20 plus year old Rangies). I don't own a Jap fourby because there like arseholes, everyone has one and they're as boring as **** to drive. Reliable yes but still boring!!

Wow, you're having a bad day huh. Chin up. Try looking at it this way ... it's ignorance on the part of the haters that prevents them from understanding the joy of owning a Land Rover. Land Rovers require time to build a relationship and some people simply aren't good in the art of patience and tolerance.

You're in a small box with a disability, probably not by choice, and in a small box by being a Land Rover owner, by choice. You're part of a caring group on both counts though.

I'm a Land Rover tragic, a cyclist (Lycra clad, the whole lot), a motorcyclist and a Kiwi. If I was a truck driver (I wish) and disabled (I definitely don't wish) I'd be the full package of minority undesirable.

I hope you have a nicer day tomorrow. Rest up and smile for while, you'll be right.
    Ciao

yeah i had a really bad day, and normally i have a very thick skin, have to have with my nature of disability as i look 'fine' so i get judged all the time. ive done the jap forby thing and they were the most horrible unreliable, expensive wastes of money ive experienced. flywheels, clutches, head gaskets, harmonic balancers lol, leaking oil faster than you can fill it. and boring to boot. hit one bump needs new alignment. they may have been bad ones though. yeah disabled not by choice, but the landrover has given me so much more independence than any other car (other than my pano currently undergoing its resto) it simply is so easy to drive. i have a lot of hassles with other cars, from twisted pelvis, breast bone ligament damage, a hell of a lot of pain that leaves me in a right state on the side of the road unable to drive at all. the landy does not do any of these things. is easy to get in and out of, and always gets me home. even when my one working hand is reading a grip strength of zero, and im in agony, i sitll manage to get the 10 minutes home from the medical appointments. some days i cant drive at all, but since the landy there are less of those days.

god LOL you must cop it from everywhere cycling too! cyclists cop a massive backlash!

today is just one of those days id had enough of the constant backlash and hatred.
    feeling better already however

Tell 'em that you didn't buy a jap truck because you hate dealing with their typical owners...just bounce back what the haters are saying and make them think about it...

Read through the posts and find out what Land Rover owners say about other 4wd's most are very disparaging. Do a title search for Toyota and read some of the comments. Not to mention jeep, Mitsubishi etc..
What comes around goes around. Or is what goes around comes around???? It works both ways anyway.

Just mention to the bogans that the country that made Land Rovers never bombed Darwin. They may give you confused dumb looks after that.
