now what would give you that idea.....its not like they would push up electricity prices in QLD in the lead up to selling it off....

I really like the way Australia is going, do not own anything, do not manufacture anything....it seems kind of flawed if the rich want us plebs to have enough money to keep spending it to keep them rich?

heard some chat about this on talkback radio........other countries are doing this as well

I also heard today that there is a competitor to Aus Post parcels and post pack.....they are signing up newsagencies, apparently a little cheaper

Aust Post must now be delivering a lot of stuff bought via the internet from overseas where postage is either free or added to the purchase price.
Does Aust Post receive any income for this service?

I was under the impression they didn't. That's why our postage for sending is quite high.

I don't even get postal delivery... And I live approximately 65kms from the Melbourne CBD - it's not exactly like I live hundreds of kilometres from a city.

I therefore have to pay a yearly fee to have a post office box - not because I want to but because I have no choice. I think that it's about $75 a year for a "small" post office box.

And believe me, I wish that I didn't - I have had bad experiences because companies continually sending invoices/statements/documents to my residential address despite me asking to have things delivered to my postal address.

I once had a debt collector ring me, trying to collect an un-paid bill from GP. The GP had sent an Invoice to my residential address - which never arrived.. The GP then sent reminders, final notices, etc - which also never arrived. And then they set the debt collector onto me... It was sorted out in the end (the GP admitted that I had given them my postal address). And I also thought that the GP was bulk bill - hence I wasn't expecting a bill anyway.

I am not a fan of Australia Post... I can't have mail delivered and I am 65kms from the CBD? Come on...

If it is privatised then no one will get a delivery unless it is profitable. I can see almost everyone forced to pick up from the local P.O. (and waiting in a long line) to save paying postie wages. Even the pillar of capitalism, the USA, isn't stupid enough to privatise their post office. Public utilities, post-water-electricity, should never be privatised.
