Do they actually have LandRovers in that club?????All I ever see is Jap stuff getting around with "Newcastle LandRover Club" written on the windscreen. Some have even turned the "R" in LandRover to a "P" for some reason??????
I was hoping to find out some information from members who were in the club prior to 1985.
Mainly what events they had.
My reason for asking is they use have an event day of some sort on our property.
They had awards for best drivers etc
I was wondering what sort of events did they do to assess this ?
oh and if anyone had any photos of any of their events including the ones held at paynes crossing would be great![]()

I think there may be a member or 2 with land rovers. It is quite disgraceful that they use the name just for the lease. Apparently they are dickheads to people who join and have land rovers. I feel like joining just so i can annoy them
I was a member from about ~1982 - 1984 Yes, there were plenty of Landrovers back then but they accepted other makes as well.
I can't remember any events up your way (Singleton ??) but they used to run an orientation day for new members as part of a longer 4x4 driving education package. It consisted of 1 night per week over about 6 weeks at Merewether Heights primary school and one field day. The field day may have been at Paynes crossing. I distinctly remember the day but the exact location, sorry, I can't be sure, but it was out that way.
They also had a property near Copeland, the 'Alan Howarth Reserve' which I remember going to few times but these were just social days, no driver competition.
2024 RRS on the road
2011 D4 3.0 in the drive way
1999 D2 V8, in heaven
1984 RRC, in hell
Thanks Ferret. Yes Singleton is the district.
I think it was in the 70s maybe late 60s. I will need to ask next time I see my great uncle
I believe that some of the foundation members of the Newcastle Land Rover Club are now members of the Rover Owners Club of Newcastle. Contact 130man (by PM) as he is a member of the latter club and also AULRO.
Roger
Thanks Roger, I know Ross(130man). I need to go show him the s3 one day when I get a chance to take it for a drive.
