Is that correct that the Premier refused to consider other options or they were considered and the advice he was given was to go with the nets? I would have though that the various Govt Depts. would have firstly sought advice not only interested parties but also their interstate equivalents and then given the Premier advice?

some more interesting facts, which are well supported

And it's hooks, not nets that they are putting in the water. There is a big difference between the two.

No shark culls for South Australian beaches, Government and Opposition say

    Quote:
Acting Environment Minister Leon Bignell has ruled out similar measures in South Australia, saying they would result in the deaths of other marine life.

"It doesn't make sense. It's indiscriminate slaughter of not only sharks but dolphins and turtles and other animals that get caught up on these hooks," he said.

"There's no logic to it and it's a very scary thing."

Should we plant traps or IED's in pure roads to indiscriminately take out cars and their drivers in their (natural) habitat?

That is what we are doing. And as far as WA and QLD holding up the economy, what a load.
If QLD is keeping the economy afloat, then why are so many miners jobless at the moment?

All the states do their bit. I might move to Tassie one day once they mine the beauty out of WA and QLD, and soon NSW.

    Will.

Actually - I'd call it the height of hypocrisy as previously posted. And as also posted - does absolutely bugger all for the credibility of one side of the argument.

Don't know if you read elsewhere or not - but I don't agree with baiting the sharks either - but I'm not hypocritical enough to just get up and only bag what is being introduced in one part of the country, when exactly the same practice has been going on elsewhere in the country for years.

If you're serious about the issue - be critical of it wherever it occurs - that's if you want to have any credibility.
    Cheers .........
